Friends, it is not too early to be thinking SHOEBOX! This month we will have a box in the sanctuary marked Shoe Box Donations. As usual, we will also accept donations for shipping the boxes. Although you may bring anything on the list, for the next 3 weeks we would like to specifically collect hygiene items such as toothbrushes/toothpaste, mild bar soap (in a plastic bag), combs, and
washcloths. Info on our annual “Packing Party” will come later. Merry Christmas!

Mt. Pleasant Church is having a yard sale along with a soup sale and bake sale on Saturday October 12 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. with the
proceeds supporting a mission trip.

Please pray for the Bailey family serving in the Middle East and Arabian Gulf. Pray for job opportunities as the return to the Middle East, a team for them to join in their target country, and the leading of the Holy Spirit as they meet and develop relationships with Gulf Arabs.

Please pray for Rev. Paul & Elizabeth Branch and their children Linda and Joseph. This family serves in Guatemala and asks prayer for wisdom and grace as Paul teaches and serves at Central American Theological Seminary, for guidance and grace as Elizabeth ministers to at risk children and families, and for provision for full monthly support as well as provision for Linda’s college.

Our monthly night of prayer is tonight from 5-6 p.m. Join us to pray for each other, our community and Christ’s Kingdom to come on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Presbytery of the Alleghenies (POA) is hosting a fun youth event on Sunday October 6. It is a Corn Maze in Columbiana, OH followed by a time of food and worship in Enon Valley, PA. Yes, we have to travel a little, but it will be a fun time of fellowship with folks from other POA churches. Cost for the corn maze is $7 per person. If you are interested, please sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board. We will arrange meeting times. The event starts at 3 p.m. in Columbiana and ends at 8 p.m. in Enon Valley. Let’s have some corn maze fun and worship Jesus!

Come join us on September 28 at Hanover Fire Hall for a night of great entertainment! Spaghetti dinner served at 5 PM, followed by the free show.

We received the following note recently:  “Dear Pastor Ellis, We’d like you to know that you and your church were our Presbytery “Church of the Week” on Sunday August 25th.  You and the church were prayed for that morning during our worship services.  We hope you felt and continue to feel God’s presence in your ministry.  Sincerely, New Covenant EPC (New Castle, PA).”  Great idea!  Let’s pray for them this week!

God works in many ways including through our website!  We received a message through our website from Graystone Presbyterian Church in Indiana, PA.  This 200 year old congregation is very close to Indiana University of PA and has a ministry to college students with over 60 weekly in worship and a weekly Christian fellowship for students.  The prayer request was for their congregational meeting, today at 3 p.m. where they will vote, just like we did, on whether or not to leave the PC(USA).  Please keep these brothers and sisters in Christ in prayer this afternoon.

It is Sunday, September 29 from 5-6 p.m.  Join us to pray for each other, our community and Christ’s Kingdom to come on Earth as it is in Heaven!
